Thomas Stonewall Jackson Quotes

I read a so-so article in the History Channel magazine last night about Stonewall Jackson. The article was short, without much content. That said, I looked for some quotes from the great Confederate General and there weren't many good ones. It took me a while to wrangle this one up...

"Always mystify, mislead and surprise the enemy if possible...."

The quote is a testament to his military success. Jackson always thought it was important to outflank and surprise his enemy with non-traditional military tactics. This strategy however seemed to work best in smaller battles, which is where Jackson saw most of his success.

Ben Franklin Quote

On this day in 1790, the first American super-star died. Benjamin Franklin was the most accomplished American of his age, and perhaps any age. Franklin was successful in many areas, he was an accomplished author, printer, scientist, inventor, politician, and diplomat. In his spare time, he was a civic activist who founded one of the most influential libraries in the (then) colonies, reformed the U.S. postal system and laid the groundwork for the modern system, and created one of the first volunteer fire fighting companies.

That said, here's a quote from the brilliant Benjamin Franklin.


" All would live long, but none would be old."
